Facilities

All pool sessions are held at the Texas A&M University Recreation Center Natatorium The Natatorium is recognized as one of the finest and fastest in the country, where numerous World, American and US Open records have been set.

There are no lockers available at the TAMU Rec Center for campers to utilize while at the pool. Because of this we recommend that campers do not bring valuables to the pool facility. Backpacks and equipment are recommended to be brought onto the pool deck and left in the stands during all practices.

Equipment

Campers should bring all personal swimming gear — suits, goggles, caps, fins and plenty of towels. Other training equipment (kickboard, pull buoys, etc.) should be left at home. Casual clothes (T-shirts, shorts, etc.) and athletic tennis shoes are needed. Campers also need an alarm clock, bed linens, blanket or sleeping bag, personal toiletries, water bottle, sun screen, plenty of comfortable shorts, t-shirts, socks, towels and a pillow.

Transportation

The camp provides round-trip ground transportation to and from the College Station airport at no charge. If your camper will be flying into College Station please be sure to let us know in advance so we can send you an airport pickup request form. During camp all campers are transported to and from the dorms and practice facilities and activities via Texas A&M campus charter busses.

Supervision

The safety of your children is our top priority. Experienced and mature male and female coaches/counselors provide 24-hour supervision for all swimmers, including weekends for campers staying more than one session. All employees have passed a background check conducted by the Texas A&M University Human Resources Department.

Extracurricular Activities

Planned recreational activities are available during scheduled activity time and after the evening stroke session. For multiple session campers, weekend activities are planned.

Cash Bank

The "cash bank" is available to all campers. Campers may deposit cash at check-in and may withdraw money each day at meal times as they need it. (Campers should bring the bills they want to have in the bank. We will not have change). Typical suggested amounts to bring are $40.00 to $100.00. If campers plan to buy clothing or expensive gifts at the Texas A&M bookstore they may need more.

Cash is needed for souvenirs, snacks, pizza and some activities. Although most activities are free, those that are offered by organizations other than Aggie Swim Camp, such as rock climbing, may have fees ranging from $4.00 to $20.00.

Parental Consent and Emergencies

Please inform us in writing during check-in if someone other than the parent will be picking up or visiting your child during or at the end of camp. Please provide a way to contact you immediately in case of emergency. If you have not already given us your cell phone numbers or other numbers where you may be reached during camp please send those to us or give them to us at check-in. Visitors are welcome during camp and may eat meals or check-out the camper for a short time outside of practice times. If you visit your child during camp you must bring your ID and check-out with his/her counselor. After check-in, visitors are only allowed in the lobby area of the dorms.

Special Needs

We want your child to have a great camp experience. Please let us know if there is a special need or if there is anything that will help us in working with your child.

Medication

Campers will meet our camp athletic Trainer during check-in. This is the person who can store medicine and give it out to campers at specified times. Please let the Trainer know if your child is taking any prescription medicine. Important: We do not give out aspirin, Tylenol or the like without first talking to a parent or someone designated by the parent to make decisions. If it is likely that your child will need to use this type of medicine please send it with the camper and instruct him/her on how to use or bring the medicine with instructions for our Trainer.

Room and Board

This year all campers in all sessions will be housed in The Cambridge at College Station, a spectacular off-campus dorm located at 501 University Oaks Boulevard in College Station. Dorm rooms are set up as 2 bedroom/1 bath to house up to 4 campers or 4 bedrooms/2 baths to house up to 4 campers. Each room has a refrigerator and microwave oven. Campers may bring snacks and drinks to keep in their rooms. The dorms feature an outdoor recreation pool, theatre room and game room for on-site recreation. The dining hall is onsite and offers a variety of foods on an allyou- can-eat basis for a well-rounded, balanced diet.

Roommate Requests

Every reasonable effort will be made to assign compatible roommates. Advance requests for specific roommates are welcomed, but cannot be guaranteed. Roommate requests must match. Do not list more than one person for a roommate or more than four people for suitemates. It is recommended that roommates/suitemates send their applications together to be in the same session.

Check In and Check Out

Check-in occurs on the first day of camp from 2-4 p.m. each week. Campers traveling by air should plan to arrive in College Station before 4 p.m. All campers will check out by 11 a.m. on the last day of camp. Air departures should be made between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Campers will be supervised until their departure.

Lost Keys

Campers are responsible for keeping track of their room keys. If a key is lost the camper must pay a lost key fee to the dorm of $100.00. Each camper will receive a lanyard at check-in for the keys along with their name tag.

Day Campers

Check-in is on the first day of camp from 2pm-4pm at The Cambridge in College Station. During check-in your camper will receive a letter showing which camp group he/she is in, who the counselors for that group are and where the group's roll call meeting spot is. At 4 p.m. your camper will go to his/her first roll call to meet their counselors and the rest of the camp group and will be given the rules and instructions for the week.

Day campers will enjoy all the benefits of swim camp but will not stay overnight in the dorms. Day campers should be dropped off at The Cambridge café at 7:30 a.m. for breakfast each day. After breakfast day campers will do everything all other campers will do during the day. All meals will take place in The Cambridge café. Day campers will attend activities during the afternoon just as the resident campers do. During down time at the dorm day campers can enjoy time in the dorm's game room, lobby or in other campers' rooms.

Day campers should be picked up at the end of each day from one of two locations, either from the TAMU Rec Center pool as we exit after the last practice at 7:30 p.m./8:00 p.m. or in the dorm lobby between 8:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. before lights out. If a day camper returns to the dorm he/she is more than welcome to participate in any activities in the evening – the ice cream social, movie night, scavenger hunt, talent show or just hang out in the game room or other campers' rooms. Please discuss where you will pick up your day camper at the end of the day with his/her counselor during the first roll call on check-in day. Please do not pick up your camper unless he/she is checked out by a counselor from either location.

Parents are welcome to watch any practice at the TAMU Rec Center pool at any practice time in the upstairs spectator seating area. We do ask that you allow your camper to stay with camp as much as possible during the day, i.e. for meals, activities, etc. /

Dorm Information

Phones – The dorms have a limited number of phones in the lobby (there are no phone hook-ups in the rooms). Campers may use a phone credit card to make long distance calls. Campers may also bring cell phones.
